The Search for Meaning in My Life
Fr Pat Gorevan
Fr Pat opened our Saturday morning with a heartfelt reflection on the human search for meaning. He reminded us that our lives are not just isolated projects, but part of a bigger story—God’s story—which both grounds and calls us beyond ourselves. “My search for meaning goes beyond my own life project; I am part of a bigger story which draws the best out of me.” This bigger perspective helps us to live more fully, with hope and purpose.
Discover What Makes You Come Alive!
Gretta Mohan
Dr Gretta invited us to pause from the busyness of daily life and ask: What truly makes me feel alive? She reflected on the deep, God-given longing within each of us for joy, connection and vitality. Through personal stories, prayer, and reflection, she encouraged us to notice the moments—great or small—that lift our hearts and reveal what nourishes our spirit: laughter with loved ones, acts of kindness, the beauty of music or creation.
She guided us through steps for discernment:
Cultivating curiosity about where the Spirit might be nudging us.
Stepping beyond our comfort zones to discover hidden passions.
Building meaningful connections that help us see God’s face in others.
Listening in prayer and silence, allowing God’s grace to transform us.
Gretta reminded us that living fully alive means embracing who God created us to be, drawing inspiration from the saints who radiated joy and self-giving love.
Evening Gathering: Cheese & Wine
After the talks, the group enjoyed a relaxed evening of cheese and wine. This was a special time to slow down, share stories, laugh together and deepen connections.
Why We Need Less Information and More Wisdom
Jane Kavanagh
On Sunday morning, Jane challenged us to reflect on the overload of information in our daily lives and to rediscover the gift of wisdom. While information is instant and abundant, wisdom is cultivated—through intention, reflection, and faith.
She offered practical tools for reclaiming our attention and living more intentionally: setting limits on technology, pausing before reacting, and creating space for silence and prayer. Wisdom, she reminded us, is about aligning our choices with our deepest values, living with integrity, and shaping our lives around what truly matters.
Drawing from Scripture and personal insight, Jane encouraged us to make space for what brings peace and perspective: time with friends, nature, meaningful conversation, and prayer.
